Updated 8/9/2010

The event information for the 2010 Akeley East Enduro has been updated. The trails are in excellent condition.

If you are trail riding on August 14 or 15, please use the trails west of M64. All trails east of M64 will be closed for the enduro from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Updated 6/4/2010

Trails west of M64 will be closed to all OHV traffic on 6/12 & 6/13. There will be a motorcycle enduro. Please use trails east of M64 on those dates.

It appears that this will be a busy logging season this summer. There are currently 3 areas being logged and the DNR has more planned. Avoid trail sections between map points 673-187 and 655-180, 682-166 and 691-179, and a section of trail south of 696-188. Detour routes that avoid the logging area and put you back on the trail as quickly as practical have been established. Follow the arrows. The main trails will be re-opened when the logging is complete.

Thanks to all club members who were able to work over the week-end.

Updated 5/11/2010

There will be a club work party on 5/29 - 5/30, Memorial week-end. If you can make it, plan on working and we will fit in some riding.

Members who wish to work before then are asked to concentrate on the trail section between 676-165 and 667-186. Brush saws will be the most useful tool.

Updated 5/7/2010

The Akeley area received needed rain throughout the week and the DNR has said the fire danger is dramatically reduced.

Unfortunately, there was an ATV accident on East Steamboat over the weekend that resulted in a fatality. Remember to watch for traffic and match your speeds to the trail; especially on sections where higher speeds are possible, forest roads, and dual use trails.

Updated 4/26/2010

The trail system is open as of May 1st. PFBR MC people have begun clearing the winter dead falls debris from the trail. That should be done in a couple of weeks. You may find trees blown down across the trail any time you ride this summer. We will clean them out as quickly as we find them. In the interim, please ride gently around any obstructions you find.

It has been extremely dry in the area this spring and the DNR has reported numerous small fires already. Be careful with heat sources and don’t add to the statistics. Remember, a spark arrester is required by State law on all OHVs.

Updated 4/15/2010

The Club spring work party will be April 24/25. Trail priorities for 2010 have been set and we should be able to get number 1 completed and make some progress on others. The trail locations we will work on are may all be reached from the road.

As in the past, Ron’s dad has offered the use of his heated shop just south of Akeley for those who stay overnight. Club members will be working both days so come when you can.

Updated 3/20/2010

The Martineau Trail System is now closed for 2009. Check the DNR web site for official opening dates next May.

The 2010 enduro data has been finalized. Check out the events link for info. The club will begin maintenance activities sometime in April, depending on local conditions, and will contact members with work schedules.

We will try to keep everyone posted on upcoming activities on this link. Be sure to check it out occasionally.
