Trail intersections on the MRT are signed using the MN Emergency Locator System. The alpha-numeric sign represents the GPS coordinate at that location. The 6 digit number on the map shows the location of the sign on the trail. The alpha designation (UN) is not shown since it is the same for all locations on the map to reduce clutter. The borders of the map have a numbered grid. The numbers on the top and bottom borders are for the 1 st 3 numbers on the sign. Similarly, the numbers on the sides correspond to the last 3 numbers on the sign. Look up or down from the grid for the 1 st 3 numbers and left or right for the last 3 to find the sign location on the map. For more information on intersection signing and other trail markings, see these printable files. Using MN Emergency Locator Signs with your GPS Riding an OHM in a Limited Use Forest Trail mileages shown on the map are the distance in miles between the open intersection points ( ). Loop mileages are shown in the loop legend box. Call 911 for all emergencies. Cell phone coverage is spotty in the Paul Bunyan State Forest. If your phone doesn’t work, move to an open spot and try again. The Hubbard County 911 operators have access to MRT trail maps and MN Emergency Trail Locators sign information. Use them to help emergency responder find your location. |
